Betting in Poker

Different games have different forms of betting:

Fixed Limit: The betting is for a set amount each round, with variations depending on the game being played that allow the later rounds to be bet at higher limits than the early betting rounds. For instance, a 1/2 Texas Hold’em game means the first two betting rounds are $1 and the last two betting rounds are $2. Each bet and raise must be exactly this amount.

Spread Limit: Bets and raises can be made within a range, rather than a set amount. For instance, a 1/5 game means any bet can be made between $1 and $5, with raises equal to the previous bet.

Pot Limit: Bets and raises are limited to the amount of money in the pot, plus the amount for a player to call. For instance, a player faced with a $20 bet and a $100 pot can raise up to $120.

No Limit: Bet or raise any amount, up to the total of the chips in a player’s possession at the start of the hand.
